Taster Session- 6th February

On Thursday 6th February SCRD will be holding a 2-hour taster session for anyone who wants to come along and find out more about Roller Derby. It will take place 7pm-9pm at Gower College Sports Centre, Tycoch.

Our excellent coaches will be on hand to run you through some of the basic skills and answer any questions you may have. Everyone is welcome, no matter what your skating ability. If you don’t have your own kit, we have plenty of skates and all the safety gear you need to get a taste of what Roller Derby is all about.

Best of all this session is FREE! So why not come along for a skate and a chat? Have fun, get a bit of exercise and make some new friends! For insurance reasons the session is open to over 18s only. If you enjoy the experience why not check out the details for our 6-week Introduction to Roller Derby course, starting on 13th February. See below for full details.

Introduction to Roller Derby course Starting on Thursday 13th February

SCRD will be running a 6-week course to introduce you to the wonderful sport of Roller Derby. Whether you have never skated before or you already have some experience, we have some fantastic coaches who are waiting to teach you all the basics of Roller Derby. You will learn how to skate forwards and backwards, stop, fall safely, jump and hit other skaters.

If you don’t have your own kit don’t worry, we have it all covered. We can provide you with everything you need to stay safe while you skate. The course costs just £25 and covers you for all 6 sessions, as well as the cost of insurance and hire of skates and all safety equipment.

You must be over 18 to take part, however, we also run junior training sessions for the younger Roller Derby enthusiasts.

All sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 pm-9 pm at Gower College Sports Centre, Tycoch.
