Staying safe & sane and trying to stay on skates.

I think it’s fair to say that this past 9 months hasn’t been much fun for anyone. Lockdowns, furlough, working from home, home schooling, our front line & key workers soldiering on through it all. And to top it off, no Roller Derby!! We’ve all felt the pain of this pandemic, and like most people we at SCRD have been doing our best to do whatever we can to stay safe and stay sane.

Whether it has been baking, gardening, crafting or learning a new skill by taking up an art class. Making the most of working from home by spending more time with the family, having a go at home haircuts, or trying to get some exercise.

We recognise the importance of attempting to keep our minds and bodies active and doing our best to stay positive in these unprecedented times

At the same time we’ve been doing or best to stay bonded and stay fit as a team, by organising online quizzes and workout sessions, getting together for some outdoor fitness and of course some socially distanced outdoor skating!

We have also had reason to smile and celebrate as we have welcomed into the fold a couple of potential future recruits, courtesy of Bexon & Victory!

We are so lucky to live in an area that offers us amazing beaches, fantastic countryside and a lovely cycle path by the sea that is great for skating on!

I heard a saying recently that went something like “We may not all be in the same boat, but we are all in the same storm”.

All storms have to end sometime, let’s hope this one ends soon so we can get back on track doing what we love.
